This year has been tough, and it’s hard to feel positive as we approach winter and the difficult time it’s likely to bring.
We know many of you will be feeling stressed as the weather gets colder and the days become darker, with the turn of the season signifying further rises in food and energy prices that will leave many of us compromising on how we spend money.
We don’t want anyone having to choose between heating and eating over the coming months and wanted to let you know that COTS’ doors will be open from Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:00pm every week. As well as getting warm, there’s lots to do in the space:
– Enjoy a hot brew and something to eat
– Make new friends over a game of chess – or just enjoy a chat!
– Grab a hot shower and change into some new clothes
– Access our services, including opticians, mental health support, counselling and more.
On Sunday mornings you can also join us for our church service, which runs from 9:30am to 1:00pm.
Every single person is welcome, no matter what your situation and needs – and we want to help you as best we can. We understand that sometimes it can be hard to ask for help, but everyone deserves to be warm this winter, so do come and chat with us if you’re struggling.
If you’re based in Barnoldswick, we also run our Loaves & Fishes community café, which opens every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 4pm. There you can enjoy great food and coffee while accessing opticians and mental health support.
The best way we can get through this time is to band together as best we can as a community – and to make sure we look out for each other.
The Cots Team.
